Student Enrichment Classes
Chipeta offers enrichment classes in the fall, and spring. Enrichment classes provide wonderful after school opportunities for students to continue learning. Classes can spark interest in a new topic, continue learning on a favorite subject or activity, or just provide a chance to have fun.
Health and Safety
The Health and Safety Committee has three major events during the year. We
coordinate the schedule and recruit volunteers for the Hearing and Vision
Screening at Chipeta. Audiologist from the District come to test hearing and
trained parent volunteers do the vision screening. This is truly a fantastic
way to provide an important service at Chipeta. Hearing and Vision Screening
takes place in September or October.
Our two educational events for students are Safety Town and Tar Wars.
Safety Town is for kindergarten and first grade students. Students ride
tricycles through a "town" and learn about pedestrian safety and traffic signs.
Tar Wars is the anti-smoking education program for the fifth grade students.
Students learn about the health risks of smoking and analyze tobacco
advertisements. The students then participate in the Tar Wars poster contest.
Chipeta students create fantastic Tobacco-Free posters and the school winner's
poster is sent to the Colorado state competition.
The Health and Safety Committee also provides supplies for first aid kits
used the by the teachers during recess and we stock the first aid kits at the
beginning of the school year. Join the Health and Safety Committee to help with
all of these fun events!

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students)
is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering. There are two primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program.
1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

PTA makes sure that our amazing teachers and staff know how grateful we are to have them by arranging special luncheons and coordinating staff appreciation week in the spring.
Keep an eye out for our student directory flyer. Every student at Chipeta gets a free directory thanks to Chipeta PTA!
